Other Oxford University Drama-based Societies

Aside from OUDS, there are many other drama societies/groups in Oxford. Many of them work closely with OUDS under the ‘Oxford Student Drama’ umbrella. Here’s a list of some of them:

·       Oxford University Technical Theatre Society (OUTTS): https://www.outts.org/

OUTTS (formerly TAFF) is the University of Oxford society for theatre technicians and designers, supporting all those working on student drama within Oxford.

·       The Oxford Revue: https://oxfordrevue.co.uk/

Primarily a sketch and stand-up comedy group, the Revue has produced several of the UK's best-loved actors and comedians, with the likes of Dame Maggie Smith, Lee and Herring, Al Murray, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Phillips, Armando Iannucci, Beyond the Fringe’s Alan Bennett and Dudley Moore, Richard Curtis, and Monty Python’s Michael Palin and Terry Jones as former members.

An improvised comedy group, consisting of a happy mix of students and residents from in and around Oxford, UK, who perform improvised comedy similar to Whose Line Is It Anyway? They mix short-form and long-form improv; you can expect anything from scenes, songs, Shakespeare, musicals. raps and much more... all made up on the spot!

An improvised comedy sketches and games, as well as full show length improvised comedy plays and musicals. Everything - the plot, the characters, the lines, the songs, and even the sound and lights - is made up entirely on the spot based on suggestions from the audience

·       Oxford University Gilbert and Sullivan Society: https://gands.web.ox.ac.uk/

The Oxford Gilbert & Sullivan Society is a society devoted to the appreciation and performance of the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, writers of comic opera during the Victorian era. The shows sit somewhere between grand opera and musical theatre, but being catchy, lively, slightly absurd, they essentially form a genre of their own.

OULES is a non-profit amateur dramatics society that produces comedy musicals, all written by our members, to raise money for charity. The group is focused on first-time actors, writers, and crew, forming a group that demands no audition preparation and gives a part to everyone who auditions.

OUFF is Oxford University's official filmmaking society. They aim is to allow everyone with an interest in making films to do so, helping projects by providing free equipment and providing space to connect with other students with a shared passion.
