OUDS National Tour

What is it? What’s its purpose?

The OUDS National Tour is a production that gets put on round various locations in the country as a way of bringing drama to schools and communities up and down the country. The purpose of such a tour is to make both the arts, and Oxford, generally, a more accessible space. By increasing its access, this tour hopes to show people who we are, what we do, and remove the walls around some of Oxford Student drama. The projects chosen aim to be appropriate for school-aged students, either linking to the curriculum or increasing their exposure to various texts.

Who runs it? Who can be part of it?

The project is fundamentally an OUDS-led production, and therefore, is funded by OUDS and often supported by CMDF.  It is co-produced by the in-coming and out-going treasurer, but the remainder of the team is selected through standard crew and cast calls.

When does it happen?

The tour happens in the summer, varying depending on the committee that year. Previous tours occur in 9-11th week, then have a week’s run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. However, this may change.
